F1 — Day 3 (Race Day)

So the worst thing for F1 happened — it rained, a lot. But then it just stopped. However, it left the massive field in a state of muddy, squishy dirt, and my shoes, along with everyone else’s, got completely trashed. Definitely worth it.
Middle 2 pictures are from the Kid Laroi concert.

Marshmello @ F1 Singapore

Greenday plays on Sunday, and I’m more excited for that. With that said, Marshmello still had good energy and the crowd seemed to love it, despite the heat and a long day watching F1.

F1 — Singapore — Marina Bay Street Circuit 2022

The day has finally come and what a humid day it was. Huge crowds, great food, electric atmosphere, and no rain — what more can you ask for?

The event takes place on the Marina Bay Street Circuit and was the inaugural night race and first street circuit in Asia designed for Formula One races. The race tests the limits for both drivers and cars. It has some 90-degree turns, but with a high degree of variability, featuring technical sections and quick direction changes.

TOKEN2049 — Day 1

I won’t write too much on here about the event because I’m writing a column article about the entire event, but it was… ok. Not as exciting as I thought it would be. Highlight of event was a three-song set by Teriyaki Boyz, a Japanese / English rap group. They performed at 1:30 pm, right after lunch, so the crowd was pretty low energy. More to come with Day 2 tomorrow!

Singapore, Again

Back in Singapore and it’s the same as how it always….expensive and vapid. Haven’t posted much since I’m mostly working and waiting for Token2049 and F1 next week.

And yes, Shake Shack is worth a photo because Thailand doesn’t have one and as an American cliche, I love a good cheeseburger.

Final Day in Singapore

Located 56 storys up from the heart of the Marina Bay area, the SkyPark Observation Deck boasts scenic views of the panoramic vistas of Marina Bay and Singapore’s world-class cityscape. Cost — SGD 26 for foreigners.

All the military stuff, along with the guys parachuting into the stadium, was quite unexpected, even for locals. Turns out that Singapore's National Day is on August 9, so every Saturday until then, they practice, and only allow school children into the stadium to watch. But people gathered around the streets to watch the military procession enter the stadium, and the city was filled with music, speeches, and fireworks. Pretty cool to be able to witness it, and all that info came from a taxi driver.

Last Weekend in Singapore

Sultan Mosque or Masjid Sultan, was built by and named after Sultan Hussain who decided to build a mosque befitting his status. He constructed the mosque next to his palace from 1824 to 1826 with funds solicited from the East India Company.

In the past, Sultan Mosque served as a stopover for Muslim pilgrims from the region on their hajj.

Top left picture is from a local show I went to with some colleagues. I didn’t understand half of the references but still a cool experience.

More From Singapore

The food in the clay pot is frog and it was delicious.

Unsure if the ministry building only has the colorful window shutters on for Pride, or if they are a permanent fixture. Cool either way.

Weekend in Singapore

CHIJMES is a historic building complex in Singapore, which began life as a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). The complex was restored in 1996 for commercial purposes as a dining, shopping, and entertainment center with ethnic restaurants, shops, and a function hall, providing a backdrop for musicals, recitals, theatrical performances, and weddings.

First Day in Singapore

Singapore is awesome — it’s clean, there’s a wide variety of food, and it has colonial + modern architecture. The downside, however, is that it is expensive. Like, crazy expensive. As such, I plan to stick to a lot of Chicken & Rice dishes (first picture), and maybe splurge once a week on a nice meal.

The Palfcraft setup was from the National Design Institute and they made textiles out of pineapple fibers. It was super cool, but unfortunately they didn’t have anything for sale at the exhibition.
