It’s hard to say anything bad about Laos. Sure, it’s missing the beaches and resorts that many other countries in SE Asia has, but Vientiane is a cool little city with its own culture and tasty food. I wouldn’t recommend spending more than a week here, but if you’ve got the time, there’s plenty to do and see, in addition to all the temples that are so prolific in Buddhist countries.

This is Vientiane, Laos. Pha That Luang is a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa in the center of the city of Vientiane, Laos. Since its initial establishment, the stupa has undergone several reconstructions as recently as the 1930s due to foreign invasions of the area. It is generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol.
