HONG KONG

Country Overview:

“A bustling city/country/SAR that has the soul and spirit that the mainland is missing”

Having spent 7+ years in Mainland China, I frequently visited Hong Kong and had a great trip each and every time. Hong Kong is unique, the people are friendly, and the food is phenomenal. Despite the abundance of neon signs and busy traffic, Hong Kong is and will continue to be one of my favorite places to visit. Because it’s so dense, every time I go there, I find new restaurants, hidden bars, and places to shop that are off the beaten path. I love HK because it stands up for what it believes in and is unwavering in its commitment to be what it believes itself to be.

Indian Food

I’m staying in Chung King Mansion here in Hong Kong and it’s wild. It’s a huge building, sectioned off in blocks and filled with small hostels, electronic shops, small quickie marts, restaurants, and people whispering ‘coke, weed, hash’ in your ear as you walk by. There are people from every country in the world, speaking a variety of languages and intermingling in this culturally rich environment. My room is about 2 by 4 meters big and the shower is right above the toilet, and not getting the water heater wet (with wires poking out) is unavoidable. It’s an adventure to say the least. I wore my Germany jersey the first day and now every time this Indian guy sees me he yells, 'HEY GERMANY!!’ What are you gonna do…

Above was dinner that some Middle Eastern vendor said, “is the best in D block!” Garlic naan, spicy potato thing, grilled chicken, and a fried vegetable pastry.
