CHINA
Country Overview:
“Love the food, hate the government”
I arrived in China in May 2013 and left August 2020. I taught English for awhile, did my master’s of politics & foreign policy at Tsinghua University, worked for a year at China Today, and then two years at Xinhua News Agency. I spent most of my time in Beijing, but also traveled to Shanghai, Wuhan, Inner Mongolia, Shenzhen, Panjin, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao, Xi’an, Sanya, Macau, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Had the most delicious dinner since being in China last night
And yes, the grilled chicken foot is awkward to eat, but scrumptious. First foto is baby pig belly that we had to order a day in advance. Worth every penny.
You tell the guy what type of meat you want and how many
Sooo good. I’ve gone with my Chinese friends before and there was A LOT bigger selection than just pork, chicken and lamb. Buuuuut, I can’t read Chinese, so it’s either point and pray (as in, “I want this, but I hope it’s not intestine”) or stick with what I can pronounce.
