CHINA

Country Overview:

“Love the food, hate the government”

I arrived in China in May 2013 and left August 2020. I taught English for awhile, did my master’s of politics & foreign policy at Tsinghua University, worked for a year at China Today, and then two years at Xinhua News Agency. I spent most of my time in Beijing, but also traveled to Shanghai, Wuhan, Inner Mongolia, Shenzhen, Panjin, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao, Xi’an, Sanya, Macau, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Squarespace

I have officially moved my blog from Tumblr to Squarespace. So I've separated things a bit. To read about my year in Peru, check out 'Aventuras (Peru)' and anything from China until now, I'll continue to use 'Aventuras (China)'. In 2016 I'll start a new blog and 'Aventuras (China)' will date from 5/13-12/16. To make searching for old content easier, click on 'About' and you can browse the archive or find stuff through 'search'. For new content after 12/16, there will be a new tab which I have yet to cleverly name. Bear with me as I continue to edit the site and figure things out on this new platform.
