Stopped in Singapore in 2016 and it's a city that makes you feel slightly inadequate. Everything is clean, fast, and perfectly designed. The hawker centres alone could anchor a trip — incredible food at prices that make no sense given how expensive everything else is.
My first stop in Singapore was in 2016, and I keep coming back, mostly for the Formula 1. The Singapore Grand Prix is a night race around Marina Bay, and seeing the cars scream past Marina Bay Sands and the lit-up skyline is like being inside a video game. The race weekend comes with concerts too, and I've seen Green Day with fireworks going off over the crowd.
The rest of the time I eat. The hawker centres are the soul of the city, with chicken rice, laksa and chili crab for a few dollars in the most expensive city in Asia. Gardens by the Bay, the old colonial buildings by the Padang and the shophouses of Chinatown are worth walking. Everything is clean, fast and perfectly designed. It makes you a little jealous and very well fed.
